A course shell contains the foundational course details, such as the title and description, while activities and resources make up the actual learning materials—for example, SCORM videos, classroom sessions, and quizzes.
By default, only Principal Trainers can create course shells. Once a shell is created, an Instructor can add learning materials to the course they manage. Principal Trainers who create course shells automatically become the Lead Instructors for those courses, but they can also assign additional users as instructors.
For Epic training, it is generally best practice to structure your courses so that:
-
The self-paced SCORM videos are contained in one course
-
The instructor-led class is placed in a separate course
-
The EUPA (quiz) is set up as its own course
Once these courses are created, they are bundled together in a program (also referred to as a training track), which organizes them into the proper sequence for learners.
Whenever possible, we recommend uploading courses in bulk for efficiency. However, there may be occasions where you need to manually add courses one at a time. Both methods are described below.
