Problem
There are circumstances when learners are enrolled in a course, but can't self-register for a face-to-face session. This can be for various reasons, including:
-
The face-to-face activity is hidden
-
The face-to-face activity is restricted
-
There are no more sessions available
-
There are no more seats available
-
Users are not allowed to manage their own sessions
-
Users are registered in a previous session and the facilitator did not yet enter the attendance
-
Users are already registered in an upcoming session
Solution
If the face-to-face activity is hidden:
-
Go to the activity in question
-
Click on Face-to-face Administration > Edit settings
-
Under "Common Module Settings", set "Availability" to "Show on course page"
-
Click on the save button at the bottom of the page
If the face-to-face activity is restricted:
-
Go to the activity in question
-
Click on Face-to-face Administration > Edit settings
-
Under "Restrict Access", modify (or remove) the restrictions such that user can see the activity
-
Click on the save button at the bottom of the page
If there are no more sessions available:
-
Follow the instructions available in the Adding Classroom Sessions article to add more sessions
If there are no more seats available:
-
Go to the session in question
-
Click on the "Edit session" icon next to a session
-
Increase the "Maximum capacity" by at least one (or more) seats (under the "Event Details > Show more section)
-
Click on the "Save changes" button at the bottom of the page
-
Repeat the steps above for more sessions if appropriate
If users are not allowed to manage their own sessions:
-
Go to the activity in question
-
Click on Face-to-face Administration > Edit settings
-
Select the "Allow users to self-register (no approval required)" for the "Self-registration" setting
-
Click on the save button at the bottom of the page
If users are registered in a previous session and the facilitator did not yet enter the attendance:
-
Follow the instructions available in the Taking Attendance article to mark the users attendance. This is important since a user cannot sign up for a future session unless an instructor has marked their attendance in the previous session even if this attendance is a "No show".
If users are already registered in an upcoming session:
-
Users cannot sign up for multiple upcoming sessions. You may ask the user to cancel their existing session, or you may cancel it yourself.
