Adding a Feedback Activity

The Feedback activity in Marketplace allows instructors to collect feedback from learners. You can use it for course evaluations, surveys, or gathering opinions on a particular topic. Unlike quizzes, feedback activities are not graded—they are designed to capture input and reflections from learners.

Why Use the Feedback Activity?

  • Gather anonymous or named responses from learners.

  • Collect opinions about the course or learning experience.

  • Create surveys to inform future improvements.

  • Allow learners to reflect on their learning journey.

How to Add a Feedback Activity

  1. Go to the coure in question

  2. Turn editing on (if it is not turned on already)

  3. Click on the "Add an activity or resource" button

  4. From the list, choose Feedback.

  5. Enter a name (e.g., “Course Evaluation”) and, if desired, add a description.

  6. Adjust the questions and submission section (this is where you can make a survey anonymous), restrict access, completion tracking, and other settings as needed.

  7. Click Save and display.

Adding Questions to the Feedback

After creating the Feedback activity, you’ll need to add questions. From the same page you were on where you clicked on “Save and display” earlier:

  1. Click on the Edit questions button.

  2. From the Add question drop-down, choose the type of question you’d like to insert.

Example 1: Long Answer Question

  1. From the question type menu, select Longer text answer.

  2. Enter your question prompt, such as:
“What is one thing that could be improved in this course?”

  3. Decide if the question is required.

  4. Click Save question.

Example 2: Multiple Choice Question

  1. From the question type menu, select Multiple choice.

  2. Enter your question, such as:
“How would you rate the overall quality of this course?”

  3. Add the answer options (for example: Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor).

  4. Choose whether learners can select one option only or multiple options.

  5. Decide if the question is required.

  6. Click Save question.

Viewing Responses

  1. Open the Feedback activity.

  2. Select the Analysis tab to view a summary of all responses. (This tab could be under More… depending on your screen.)

    • Multiple choice questions will display aggregated results in charts or tables.

    • Long answer questions will show each learner’s text responses.

  3. You can also click on the “Responses” tab if you want to view individual responses.
