Downloading SCORM Versions of Courses

Organizations occasionally request a copy of our SCORM packages so they can upload OCI courses into their own Learning Management System (LMS). While we appreciate the interest, we do not distribute standalone SCORM files for the following reasons:

1. Version Control

Courses delivered through Open Collaboration Initiative (OCI) are updated periodically—and in some cases, deprecated or replaced entirely. Once a SCORM package is distributed, it becomes very difficult to ensure that all learners are accessing the latest, most accurate version. Outdated content can lead to misinformation, especially in compliance or safety-critical domains.

2. Reporting Requirements

Our team reports key metrics such as enrollment, participation, and completion to stakeholders involved in the development of these courses. When content is hosted outside of our ecosystem, these statistics are no longer trackable or reliable. Centralized delivery ensures consistent, verifiable data collection across all participating organizations.

3. Intellectual Property Protection

Distributing SCORM files externally makes it difficult to protect the integrity and intellectual property of the content. We’ve seen cases in the industry where SCORM packages were redistributed, modified without permission, or reused outside the intended context.

An Alternative: Dual Code’s Workplace LMS

To meet your organizational needs without sacrificing version control or reporting, we recommend subscribing to Dual Code’s Workplace™ LMS.

Workplace is a full-featured LMS that is also fully compatible with OCI. It allows your organization to:

  • Assign any OCI course to your users

  • Track enrolment, participation, and completion metrics

  • Ensure your learners always access the latest version of each course

  • Simplify administrative workflows for compliance training

Using Dual Code’s Workplace LMS means you retain the functionality and control you’d expect from your internal LMS, while still benefiting from a shared OCI infrastructure.

If you’d like more information about using Dual Code’s Workplace LMS with OCI, please contact our sales team at sales@dualcode.com.
