Condition: Activity Completion

When adding a course, any activity that is deemed mandatory for the course must be identified in the course completion criteria. Failure to identify the mandatory activities may lead to two outcomes:

  1. Users will NEVER receive a learning record (if there are no other completion criteria in the course)
  2. Users will ALWAYS receive a learning record even if they haven't completed the mandatory activities in the course (if there are other completion criteria that would result in the generation of learning records)

Step-by-step Guide

To identify the list of mandatory activities in a course:

  1. Go to the course in question
  2. Go to Course Administration > Course Completion
  3. Expand the "Condition: Activity Completion" section
  4. Select the mandatory activities
  5. Click on the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page

Important Notes

  • By default, no activity is selected. In other words, all activities are considered optional in the system.
  • If an activity does not appear in the list, it's because the activity itself isn't set up to track completion. See Tracking Activity Completion for more details.
  • The "Condition requires" dropdown menu allows you to specify if ALL or ANY of the activities need to be completed in order for the entire course to be completed.
  • If you select an activity, make sure the activity is visible by the learners. For example, if you have a "Training Manual" activity purely visible to Instructors and there is no way for learners to view this activity, marking this manual as mandatory means no learner would ever be able to receive a learning record.
