How Marketplace Supports Course Sales

Marketplace is a comprehensive commerce platform designed to help organizations market, sell, and distribute online learning. Whether your audience consists of individual learners purchasing courses for themselves or organizations purchasing training on behalf of employees, Marketplace supports a variety of sales models. The following questions explain how Marketplace facilitates both business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) course sales from a single platform.

How do course purchases, recertification, and license renewals work?

Whether you clients are purchasing a course for themselves or buying licenses for their staff, the process differs slightly depending on the purchase type. Can Marketplace sell directly to individual learners (B2C)?

Yes. Marketplace supports traditional business-to-consumer (B2C) sales, allowing individuals to browse, purchase, and complete courses online using a credit card or other supported payment methods.

Can Marketplace sell to organizations (B2B)?

Yes. Marketplace also supports business-to-business (B2B) sales by allowing organizations such as hospitals and long-term care homes to purchase training for their employees or other learners.

Can I offer discounts to organizations?

Yes. Marketplace supports a variety of pricing models for organizational purchasers. Discounts can be configured based on purchase volume, allowing organizations to receive reduced pricing when purchasing larger quantities of course licenses. Marketplace also supports site licensing models, where pricing is based on user bands (e.g., up to 1,000 users, up to 10,000 users, etc.), providing organizations with predictable costs and unlimited access for eligible users within the licensed band.

How do organizations purchase training?

Organizations can purchase course licenses in bulk, purchase site licenses, or negotiate custom agreements based on their training requirements. Purchased licenses can then be distributed to learners as needed.

Can organizations track learner completion?

Yes. For courses that are purchased through the Marketplace, organizations can assign training, monitor progress, generate reports, and track compliance requirements through their own learning environment or integrated reporting tools.

Can both sales models be used at the same time?

Absolutely. Many Marketplace clients sell courses directly to individual learners while also offering bulk purchasing and enterprise agreements to organizations. This allows a single course catalog to support both revenue streams.

Why is this beneficial?

Supporting both B2C and B2B sales enables organizations to expand their reach, increase revenue opportunities, and serve individual learners and enterprise customers from a single platform.

How much administration is required from our team?

Very little. Marketplace is designed to minimize administrative effort by automating registration, payment processing, enrolment, course access, certificates, and learner communications. We even support your learners so you don’t have to.

Do I need sales or e-commerce expertise to sell courses through Marketplace?

No. Marketplace is designed to allow organizations to focus on creating and maintaining high-quality learning content while Dual Code handles the day-to-day operation of the commerce platform. This includes processing payments, managing customer inquiries, supporting learners during the purchasing process, and assisting organizations that wish to purchase training in bulk. For organizations without dedicated sales or e-commerce staff, Marketplace provides a turnkey solution that makes it easy to generate revenue from online learning without the overhead of operating an online store.

How do we get paid?

Marketplace collects payments from learners and organizations and provides regular reporting and revenue-sharing statements, making it easy to track sales and revenue generated by your courses. The funds are automatically transferred to your organization’s bank account each month.

Can we offer courses for free?

Yes. Marketplace supports both paid and free offerings. Many organizations use a combination of free awareness courses and paid premium content.
