When does the "Renew my learning record" link appear (or not appear)?
Question
When a user completes a course, a link labeled “Renew my learning record” appears (sometimes but not always) near the top of the page. Why do users need to click on this link to get recertified?
Answer
When a user completes a course, the learning environment may display a "Renew my learning record" link in the course itself (see screenshot below). This link allows a user to essentially get recertified.

This link does not always appear.
If a course has a certification window, the link will not be shown. A certification window limits when a user can recertify.
If the window is closed, recertification is not allowed, so the option to renew the learning record is hidden.
If the window is open, the system automatically enables the option to renew the learning record when the user accesses the course, as recertification is required.
For courses without a recertification window, where users can recertify at any time, the system cannot determine whether a user is accessing the course for recertification or simply to review materials. In this case, the link appears, allowing users to explicitly indicate their intent to recertify. The reasoning behind why this link is necessary is explained in this article.
The "Renew my learning record" link only appears if the user has a valid learning record (e.g., non-voided and not expired).
Additionally:
The link is not visible on the same calendar day the user completes the course to prevent accidental clicks.
Once clicked, the link disappears to avoid repeated selections. It will only reappear after the user completes the course in full again.
