Standardizing Course Titles and Descriptions in the Marketplace
When you create a course on our platform, you have full control over the course title and description. We encourage administrators to use clear, professional, and grammatically correct titles and descriptions to help learners understand what the course covers. However, we recognize that not all administrators follow these best practices consistently — and in some cases, descriptions may be omitted entirely.
To ensure a high-quality user experience, especially within the OCI Marketplace — a public-facing course catalogue that allows users to search and browse available training — Dual Code applies AI-driven enhancements to course titles and descriptions before they appear in the marketplace. This means the version shown in the marketplace may differ slightly from the one you originally entered.
These enhancements are made for several important reasons:
Correct grammatical or syntax errors to improve readability and professionalism
Ensure consistent language in accordance with our code of conduct and platform guidelines
Maintain appropriate length — removing descriptions that are excessively long, too short, or unclear
Remove promotional content that advertises third-party services or products not available through OCI (e.g., external books or workshops)
Translating titles and descriptions so that users can view course information in their preferred language, even if the administrator provided it in only one language
Please note that these adjustments do not affect how your course title and description appear to your own users on your site’s home page or enrolment page — they only apply to how the course is presented in the broader OCI Marketplace.
By standardizing marketplace listings, we help ensure that all users browsing courses are presented with clear, concise, and relevant information — ultimately improving discoverability and engagement for everyone.
When you update a course title or description, the AI may reprocess and adjust how it appears in the Marketplace — but this does not happen in all cases. For that reason, we strongly recommend carefully reviewing your course title and description before publishing it for the first time. Providing clear, professional, and well-formatted content from the outset helps ensure the course is presented effectively in the Marketplace and increases the chances that users will want to register.
