Configuring Recurring Courses

Many organizations offer courses where the learning record expires at one point or another.  First Aid and CPR courses are examples of courses that the learner must take annually and recertify themselves.

Dual Code's learning environment does an excellent job managing those courses automatically. By defining an expiration period, you can set and forget the course.

Step-by-step Guide

To define the expiration period for a course:

  1. Go to the course in question

  2. Go to Course Administration > Course Settings

  3. Expand the "Certification and Expiration" section

  4. Set the “Expiration” field.

    1. The value “The learning record never expires” 'is self explanatory. It means this is a once-in-a-lifetime course and once a user completes the course, their learning record will be valid for life.

    2. The value “Expire the learning record after” option allows you to specify an expiration on lapse time. You can specify the time in days, months or years.

    3. The value “Expire the learning record on” option allows you to select a precise date, like “December 31st” for example. You can also specify if the expiration is every year, every 2nd year, every 3rd year, and so on.

  5. Click on the "Save changes" button

Important Notes

  • The expiration applies to all learners who are enrolled in the course, but it is not retroactive. In other words:

    • You cannot set different expiration rules / dates within a single course.

    • Making the change today will not impact users who completed the course yesterday.
